Manito Methodist Observing 90Th Year

Nina Culver Correspondent

Manito United Methodist Church is celebrating its 90th anniversary with several special events on Sunday.

The Rev. Flora Bowers, superintendent of the Pacific Northwest United Methodist Conference, will be the guest speaker at the 10 a.m. worship service Sunday.

The service will be preceded by a hymn sing at 9:45 a.m. Four pastors who served at the church in years past are also expected to be in attendance at the service.

A potluck will follow the service, and all are invited to attend. Church members have also created a “Manito Memories” book that includes a church time line and the memories of several longtime members.

There will also be a display of pictures and mementos from the past 90 years in the church’s fellowship hall.

The church itself was completed in 1923 and is thought to be one of the last projects designed by noted architect Kirtland Cutter before he left Spokane. Manito United Methodist is located at 3220 S. Grand Blvd.
