Splash Takes Fourth Place
The Spokane Splash 18s finished fourth in the National Volleyball Festival Friday at Davis, Calif., dropping a 15-4, 15-9 championship bracket decision to Saddleback Valley.
Saddleback Valley had 22 entries in the tournament and it was Saddleback’s No. 1 team that defeated the Splash. The Southern California team, third-seeded in the 300-plus team tournament, had six players taller than 6 feet. Remaining Spokane teams play today. The Splash 14s have the best chance for a high finish. They could be 17th if they win their pool.

Two Mead High graduates, Jenny Frazier and Stacey Drollinger, combined for a goal in the 73rd minute to lift the Spokane Chill to a 2-1 victory over the Seattle Hibernian Saints in the Evergreen Cup playoffs in Bellingham.
Drollinger, who plays for Gonzaga University, dribbled through four players before passing to Frazier, who plays at Idaho, for a shot high into the net.
The win qualified Spokane for the Kennedy Cup, a regional tournament in Bellingham next month.
