Shadow Returns Home, At Last
After a month on the road, the Spokane Shadow return home Saturday night to face the USL Northwest Division rival Yakima Reds.
Albi Stadium will be a welcome site for the Shadow, as well as their fans. The Shadow, 12-7 overall and 5-4 in their division, are coming off eight straight road games in which they finished 3-5.
They have had perfect success against the Reds, winning twice this season by scores of 2-1.
The fans, meanwhile, will have their first chance at sitting in the new Albi Stadium box seats. A total of 552 seats with back rests, separate arm rests and cupholders have been permanently installed, in preparation for the USL Premier League National Championship Aug. 14-15.
The new seats cost $1 more than general admission at $8, or $5 for seniors, military and students with IDs. It is $4 for children under 12.
The Shadow will play without defender Billy Sleeth because he picked up a red card in Saturday’s win at Silicon Valley. Goalkeeper Brian Mullen’s red card does not carry an addition suspension, so he’ll suit up for Saturday’s match.
Golf
An hourlong open house will be held for retired pro Bill Welch at 5 p.m. today in the clubhouse at Indian Canyon Golf Course. The ailing former National Publinx champion served many years as the head professional at the Canyon.
