Delays On Highway 53 Expected During Work
Work on Highway 53 west of Rathdrum will cause delays for motorists beginning today, state transportation officials said.
A seal coat will be applied to the eight-mile stretch from the state line to Rathdrum beginning at 8 a.m. Work, which is expected to conclude Thursday, will be done until 5 p.m. both days.
Delays of up to 15 minutes should be anticipated, the Idaho Transportation Department said.
The seal coat is the final phase of a $1.2 million project to rehabilitate the roadway, transportation officials said. The seal coat consists of a new layer of asphalt mixed with small rocks.
