Evergreen Interchange Agreement Is Reached

Angie Gaddy Staff Writer

Developers and state transportation officials have reached an agreement on the final details of the Evergreen Road interchange project.

Those details included access to developers’ land and right of way.

The plans for the $23.4 million project are now being reviewed by the Federal Highway Administration, which has to approve the project before it can go ahead, said Jerry Lenzi, the state Department of Transportation’s regional administrator.

Transportation officials hope to advertise the construction of the project July 26, but that date may be pushed into early August, depending on how long it takes the federal review of the project takes.

Construction then might begin five to six weeks later.

“It’s moving,” Lenzi said.

The final details were being hammered out between Spokane Valley Mall owner JP Realty and developer Raymond Hanson, who is building retail centers near the mall.

“They’re all resolved,” said Hanson Industries Vice President Bob Boyle. He said they only needed to sign paperwork regarding issues of access and right of way.
