Ioc Endorses Panel’S Reforms

International Olympic leaders say they have embraced most of the recommendations of an American panel that blamed them for the Salt Lake City scandal.

The International Olympic Committee said it has already accepted or is considering virtually all the suggestions made in March by the U.S. Olympic Committee bid oversight panel.

Among the specific points:

The IOC said it agreed with the recommendation for term limits and periodic re-election of IOC members. Under the current system, members are appointed to virtual life terms.

The new IOC ethics commission will act on the panel’s call for disclosure of gifts offered to members and enforcement of rules governing Olympic bid cities and members.
