Franchitti Wins Molson

Toronto owed Dario Franchitti a victory. The Scotsman collected in the Molson Indy.

Two years ago, he started from the pole and crashed with Bobby Rahal on the first turn of the race.

A year ago, Franchitti again started from the pole and led 76 of the 95 laps before his brakes gave out.

This time, the day was all his as he started second but passed Gil de Ferran for the lead three turns into the race and stayed out front to the finish, despite a balky gearbox. Teammate Paul Tracy finished second, 2.624 seconds behind.
