Dave Villwock and Miss Budweiser cruised to victory in the Virginia Is For Lovers Cup unlimited hydroplane race on Willoughby Bay, breaking a rare two-race winless streak and improving his series points lead.

Chip Hanauer, with a chance to tie Bill Muncey’s record of 62 career victories, saw his chances end before the final when his boat stalled leaving the dock on its way to the starting line, and Hanauer couldn’t get it restarted.

The tour moves west to Kennewick, Wash., for the Budweiser Columbia Cup on Aug. 1.
