Several Road Projects May Slow Traffic
The city of Spokane is advising drivers to be aware of several ongoing and new road projects that could cause delays.
A number of closures are expected on the Greene Street Bridge next week as a rehabilitation project moves traffic to the east side of the bridge and work begins on the west side. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction from the intersection of Mission and Greene across the bridge. Monday through Thursday, crews will close the Greene Street Bridge for 10 or 15 minutes, starting at 1:30 p.m. Then bridge traffic will be limited to one or two cars at a time until 2:30 p.m.
A project to resurface the Monroe Street Bridge from Bridge Avenue to Main Avenue begins Monday. Work will include reconfiguring the traffic pattern around Lincoln Square. Most of the work will be done between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. and at night, to avoid traffic backups. The work is expected to take three weeks.
Phase two of the project at Indian Trail Road is under way. Initial work, including felling trees to accommodate moving utility poles, will cause delays for motorists. The project includes widening Indian Trail from Barnes Road north to Ridgecrest Drive.
Work on the first phase, widening Indian Trail from Kathleen Avenue north to Barnes Road, should be done in three weeks. Crews are installing sidewalks and curbs and building retaining walls along that stretch. Drivers will face intermittent single-lane, flagged traffic.
Resurfacing of Spokane Falls Boulevard from Wall Street west to Monroe Street should end this week. The work includes repaving Lincoln Street from Spokane Falls Boulevard north to Main Avenue. Motorists can expect flagged traffic and delays.
