Why be a locksmith?: His grandfather started the business. “I like the work. I’ve been around it since I was a kid.”
Favorite story: “I made keys for Elvis’ car.” The metallic Cadillac, which came through Spokane when the NorthTown Mall opened after remodeling in 1992, arrived without keys. “It was kind of strange, sitting in his car.”
Duties: Changing and installing locks on homes, boats and vehicles and helping people get back into their cars.
Perks: “Every day is different.” Also, “I can’t get locked out, because I can always get in.”
