Edgecliff picnic a great success
On July 17, the Edgecliff SCOPE people organized a picnic to recognize the many inhabitants of the Edgecliff area who have lived in the area for over 50 years.
The Edgecliff area is approximately from Fancher Road to Park Road, plus Beverly Hills, and from Sprague to about 20th. Many years ago the Edgecliff area held a get-together picnic every year, but it was discontinued in the mid ‘70s. After the success of this event, maybe it will be held every year.
The persons most instrumental in this event were Joyce Allenton, editor of the very newsy Edgecliff SCOPE newsletter, which is published on a monthly basis, and Jackie Ash, president of Edgecliff SCOPE. I’m certain many other SCOPE members worked very hard to make this a success, and successful it was.
One person has lived in the area for 80 years. All told, over 30 people have lived in the area for 50 or more years. Some people were born here in the 1920s and are still here. In my opinion, Edgecliff is a great place to live, and the SCOPE people make it better. Ed Weilep Spokane
