Workshop To Focus On Crime Prevention

A community safety program will offer ways to keep Spokane residents out of harm’s way.

“How to Be Safe in Your Home and Safe Outside Your Home,” a program sponsored by COPS Southeast, will be at 10 a.m. June 9 at the Southside Senior Activity Center, 2727 S. Mount Vernon, next door to Cafe Roma.

Sandy Richards, a crime prevention practitioner for the Police Department, will be the main speaker. Other speakers include members of the Spokane Police Department and representatives from Block Watch and neighborhood COPS shops.

Everyone at the program will receive a crime prevention kit.

“This is a great program to learn how not to become a victim,” said Mary Yates, President of COPS Southeast.

The program is sponsored by the Spokane Police Crime Prevention Unit.
