Deputies Seek Two Robbers
Sheriff’s deputies are looking for two robbers who attacked a man and took his wallet in the Opportunity area late Tuesday night or Wednesday morning.
A 53-year-old man told deputies he left his home around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday night to walk his bike to the BP gas station on the corner of Sprague and University to fix a flat bike tire.
He fixed the tire, and began walking home. He was aproached in the 200 block of South University Road by a man on a bicycle, according to deputies.
He said the bicyclist hit him on the head with a large rock. When he fell to the ground, another robber joined in, hitting and kicking him. The two stole his wallet and then fled.
The victim said he didn’t know how long he laid on the ground out after being knocked out. After the attack, the victim walked home and then went to hospital around 3 a.m. There, he was treated and then released.
The victim described one of the robbers as a white male, 20 years old, 5-foot-5, thin, with black hair, wearing a white T-shirt and black pants. He was riding a chrome BMX bicycle. The victim could not offer a description of the second robber.
Deputies found a large rock found in the middle of the road with blood on it. They also found pools of blood in the area.
They also seized a video tape at the BP gas station to see if the robbers were in the store at the same time as the victim. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Check at 456-2233.
