Driver Dies When Pickup Hits Pole

A Loon Lake man was killed early Monday morning in north Spokane County in a one-vehicle accident.

Carlos J. Manzano, 30, was northbound on Swenson Road just north of Staley Road at 1:40 a.m. when his Chevrolet pickup veered north off the road, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Manzano, who was not wearing a seat belt, then overcorrected, crossed over both lanes and struck a power pole, officials said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
