McDonald’s Corp. said it halted sales of ice cream and milkshakes in five European countries amid concern about harmful chemicals found in Belgian farm products. McDonald’s decided on Friday to suspend sales of dairy-based desserts in France, the Netherlands, Italy, Greece and Belgium. Fat tainted with dioxin is believed to have gotten into animals during the feed-making process in mid-January.

Milwaukee-based Harnischfeger Industries Inc., a manufacturer of mining and paper-making machinery, is seeking protection from its creditors in a Bankruptcy Court filing Monday. The company said it would stop paying interest on its debt.
