Spokane Firms Win Awards
Three Spokane employers received the second annual Governor’s CommuteSmart Awards, presented Tuesday in Olympia.
Sacred Heart Medical Center, Spokane County and Zak Designs Inc., were among the 18 Washington companies, schools, hospitals and agencies that won the award.
The award recognizes employers for innovation in reducing their employees’ commute trips. The goal is to reduce air pollution, traffic and fuel consumption.
Some 1,000 Washington employers participate in the program, which was created by the Commute Trip Reduction law of 1991.
