3 Churches Join For Vacation Bible School
Good Shepherd Lutheran, St. Mary’s Catholic and the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection are continuing the flood of vacation Bible schools at Valley churches by hosting their annual joint Bible school session June 21-25.
The three Valley churches are located in close proximity to one another and often host joint ecumenical events.
The session will run from 9 a.m. to noon daily and classes are open to all children age 4 through the fifth grade.
Children age 4 through kindergarten will meet at Good Shepherd, 810 S. Sullivan.
Youngsters in first and second grades will gather at the Episcopal church’s outreach center, 15319 E. Eighth.
Children in third, fourth and fifth grades will meet at St. Mary’s, 304 S. Adams Road.
St. Mary’s will also host a family worship service and dessert social on June 24 at 6:30 p.m. for all vacation Bible school participants and their parents.

Bible school at Pines Baptist
Pines Baptist Church, 714 S. Pines, will host its vacation Bible school June 21-25.
“Mount Extreme - The Ultimate Good News Challenge” will run from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. daily. The free classes are open to all children in grades K-6.

Wet fun at Valley Assembly
Valley Assembly of God Church, 15618 E. Broadway, will begin hosting Wet and Wild Wednesdays starting this week.
The evening of fun for kids in grades 1-6 will run through the end of July.
The children can participate in slip-and-slide races, water balloon fights and other water games along with learning about the Bible.
The fun starts at 7 p.m. each Wednesday. No advance registration is required and the sessions are free.

Dinner, worship at Sullivan Park
Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 810 S. Sullivan Road, will be hosting two special events this week.
The congregation will gather in Sullivan Park for dinner and a worship service at 6 p.m. Wednesday. People are invited to bring a picnic dinner for themselves and enjoy an evening of fellowship. A service will follow the meal. Sullivan Park is located on Sullivan Road near the Spokane Valley Mall.
The church will also host a yard sale next Friday and Saturday. The sale will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Proceeds will benefit the church’s youth group.
Good Shepherd will also be switching to its summer worship schedule on Sunday. Services will now be offered at 8:30 and 10 a.m. each Sunday.

Opportunity Christian honors dads
Opportunity Christian Church, 708 N. Pines, will honor fathers during a special luncheon and program at noon next Saturday.
Tickets are $3.50 for adults and $1.50 for children under 12; advance purchase is recommended. Children under four are free.
Churches host concerts
Berean Bible Church, 10910 E. Boone, will host Generation 21, a Youth for Christ musical team from Africa, at 6 p.m. Sunday. Group members are known for their mix of vocal and instrumental gospel music.
The Spokane Valley Seventh-day Adventist Church, 1601 S. Sullivan Road, will host the Heritage Singers, a contemporary Christian group, in concert at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Baby shower for Valley Center
The Veradale United Church of Christ, 611 N. Progress Road, will host a baby shower Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. to benefit the Valley Center.
The center is in need of new or gently used baby and toddler clothes for its clients.
Someone will be on hand to explain the Valley center programs for young mothers.
Summer worship schedules
Christ Lutheran Church, 13009 E. Broadway, has switched to its summer worship schedule. Services are now offered at 8:15 and 10 a.m. each Sunday, with an additional service beginning at 7 p.m. each Wednesday. Sunday school runs from 9:20 to 9:55 a.m. each Sunday.
Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2511 S. Pines Road, will begin its summer worship schedule this week. Services will now begin at 9 a.m. each Sunday and 7 p.m. each Wednesday.
