Another Vehicle Hit By Gunfire
Another vehicle has been shot on U.S. Highway 395 in Stevens County, the first since a rash of nine shootings last summer and fall.
Sheriff Craig Thayer said the latest shooting involved a northbound semitruck in the three-lane section of the road about five miles south of Chewelah. The incident occurred about 9:45 p.m. Sunday and was reported to the Washington State Patrol Tuesday.
Thayer declined to provide any details about the shooting.
The previous shootings occurred at night in the same general area, between July and November last year.
No one was injured, but a large-caliber bullet barely missed three children when it passed through the Colville Junior High School football team’s homebound bus on Oct. 27.
Thayer urged motorists to be vigilant and report suspicious activity immediately by calling the Sheriff’s Office at 1-800-572-0947 or (509) 684-2555.
