Spokane Students Busted At Kegger
About 100 Spokane high school students were busted Thursday night at a kegger in Pend Oreille County.
Sheriff Jerry Weeks said officers from his department, the state Department of Fish and Wildlife and the U.S. Forest Service arrested or cited 90 to 110 youths at a beer bash near Usk.
About a half-dozen were charged with drunken driving and “numerous” others were cited on charges of negligent driving and minor in possession or consumption of alcohol. In addition, Weeks said some of the students were charged with illegal possession of concealed handguns or drugs.
All of the youths were detained until parents came from Spokane to take them home, Weeks said. The suspects will be arraigned in Pend Oreille County District Court over the next two weeks.
Many of the students were from Lewis and Clark High School.
The sheriff said he has learned that two other groups of graduating Spokane high school seniors are planning keggers in Pend Oreille County this weekend. He said his department plans to bust them, too, if they come.
