Driver Stabbed In Apparent Road Rage Incident
Police are investigating a road rage attack in downtown Spokane that left one man with serious wounds after being stabbed by an other driver.
The drivers threw insults at each other while stopped at a traffic light at Browne and Spokane Falls Boulevard at 1 p.m. Tuesday, police said.
Police said one driver pursued the other to the parking lot of Spokane County Mental Health, 107 S. Division.
One man jumped out of his car, brandishing a knife. The other took a screwdriver from his car and attacked, claiming he did so in self-defense, police said.
The man with the knife suffered multiple arm and chest wounds, police said.
Afterward, the driver threw the screwdriver into a trash can, then fled by running into the mental health office.
The stabbing victim was listed in satisfactory condition at a local hospital Wednesday.
Police spokesman Dick Cottam said no arrests have been made and investigators are continuing to gather information.
