Two Arrested On Drug Charges
Two suspected drug dealers were arrested Sunday after separate traffic stops on the North Side, Spokane police said.
The first arrest occurred about 9:45 p.m. near Ash and Gardner when a patrol officer stopped a car driven by Charles E. Pratt, 42.
Pratt was speeding at the time, and his car’s brake lights didn’t work, police said. He also was driving with a suspended license and had no proof of insurance, officers said.
A police dog searched his car and found marijuana, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, police said. An officer said the methamphetamine appeared to be packaged for sale.
Pratt was booked into the county jail on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance with intent to deliver.
An hour later, police stopped a motorcycle near Indiana and Washington for inoperative tail lights.
The same police dog alerted officers to a saddlebag on the cycle. Police said the bag contained methamphetamine, crack cocaine, an electronic scale, pipes, spoons, needles and empty plastic baggies.
The motorcycle driver, 41-year-old David Felch Jr., also was carrying a cellular telephone and more than $1,000 in cash, officers said.
Felch was arrested and booked into jail for possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.
