Valley Bank Robber Sought

Sheriff’s deputies and federal agents are looking for a robber who held up the Washington Trust Bank at 407 N. Sullivan Road last week.

According to sheriff’s reports, a man was seen leaving the bank branch around 1:20 p.m. on June 12.

Witnesses told deputies the man gave a bank teller a note demanding money and told the teller to hurry up. The teller gave the man an undisclosed amount of cash.

The robber then left and was last seen heading west out of the bank.

Deputies seized the bank’s security videotape.

The robber is described as white, in his 40s, about 6-foot-3 and 180 pounds, with “scraggly” hair, a black beard and mustache.

He was wearing a black and white flannel shirt, cowboy boots and a cowboy-style belt.

The investigation has been turned over to the FBI.
