“The Spy Who Shagged Me”

You can say any line from the first “Austin Powers” movie and someone will have a line to shoot back at you. The movie’s sequel has the comical banter to do the same.

“The Spy Who Shagged Me” is mostly a string of simple one-liners with a formula good vs. evil story. It’s plotless and obscene, but has everything that made International Man of Mystery so enjoyable and then some.

As my sister said, writer/star Mike Myers and director Jay Roach got smart with the sequel and gave Dr. Evil and his cohorts bigger parts.

What was funny from the first movie is back in this one, and I bet the same jokes will be back a third time.

“Austin Powers” is what it was intended to be: a nice elementary film. There is even a line in the movie where Basil says to Austin, “Try not to think about it too much and just enjoy yourself.”

He then turns to the audience and finishes with, “That goes for you, too.” It’s good advice, heed it.
