Saving Her Good Name
German entrepreneur Andre Engelhardt says he plans to use the name “Lady Di” on a range of products including women’s underwear and perfume. One of the perfumes would carry the slogan, “Royal but intimate.” But Engelhardt, 35, faces legal opposition from the Princess Diana memorial fund, which is determined to control all international rights to the late British princess’s name and image and has lodged objections to Engelhardt’s various trademark applications. The Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund has built up $118 million in investments and plans to distribute at least $6.6 million a year to causes the princess supported.
