Youth Volunteer Corps Could Use Your Help
Do something good for the community. There are still a few spots left for the Spokane Youth Volunteer Corps summer program. Openings are available on projects involving Habitat for Humanity, Hillyard Heritage project, the Spokane Food Bank, tutoring kids and working with senior residents.
The program runs through Aug. 13 and is open to students ages 11-18. You can work any amount of time, from one weekend up to the entire summer. For more information, or to sign up, call Robyn Zeman at 838-6581.
Deadlines loom … Next Wednesday is the last day to apply to be an Our Generation movie or music critic. Applications must be postmarked by June 30.
In addition, applications for Our Generation writers, photographers and illustrators are due July 9.
All teens, ages 13-18, are eligible to apply.

Check out ESPN … today at 4:30 p.m. for a special report on “High School Athletes: Do Jocks Rule the School?” A survey conducted for the show found that 72 percent of students feel some tension exists between athletes and non-athletes and 78 percent believe athletes are given preferential treatment by teachers or school officials. The show will be re-aired on July 1 and July 4.
