More Troops Return To Fairchild
About 20 members of Fairchild’s 92nd Air Force Refueling Wing returned Sunday from Kosovo support missions as families continue to welcome troops back to the air base.
The personnel had been deployed in support of NATO’s Operation Allied Force, providing aerial refueling support to missions in the Yugoslavian war. Many of those returning had been in Europe since Feb. 19, according to a Fairchild statement.
The Air Force sent about 570 personnel and 20 KC-135s from Fairchild to the European conflict.
Some personnel began returning last week after the Yugoslav forces agreed to withdraw from Kosovo. About 515 Fairchild personnel still remain overseas.
