Agent Seize Marijuana In Pend Oreille County

From Staff Reports

U.S. Border Patrol agents from Spokane seized 34 pounds of marijuana with a street value of $172,000 Thursday in Pend Oreille County, border patrol officials said.

The seizure was made during a traffic stop near Ione. An unidentified U.S citizen in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of smuggling narcotics across the U.S.-Canadian border just north of Metaline Falls, officials said.

The suspect and the narcotics have been turned over to the Pend Oreille County Sheriff’s Office and an investigation continues.

This is the fifth narcotics seizure border patrol agents from Spokane have made in the last month, officials said. Spokane agents have seized more than 355 pounds of narcotics with a street value of $5.4 million since October 1998.
