Fairgrounds Gets New Manager
The North Idaho Fair and Kootenai County Fairgrounds has a new manager.
Chris Holloway, 38, replaced retiring manager Barbara Renner on March 1. Renner will stay on through the 1999 fair to assist in the transition.
Holloway grew up around the fair. She showed horses, sheep and steer while participating in 4-H as a child. At age 15, she began working for her father’s business, Steinley’s Photos, which photographed horseracing at the fairgrounds. Holloway eventually traveled to fairs throughout the Inland Northwest photographing horseracing.
No major changes are planned at the fairgrounds, Holloway said, because “nothing’s broken there. Right now I’m just working with Barb to see how she takes care of things.”
Holloway is a Coeur d’Alene native who graduated from North Idaho College and the University of Idaho with a degree in corporate finance.
The new manager was selected from among 53 applicants, said Dave Nussear, chairman of the fair’s board of directors.
“We had to dig deep to find someone that would be able to pick this up and keep going,” Nussear said. “We’ve had a great manager.”
