Jogger Reports Rape Attempt On Trail

A woman told police a man tried to rape her Tuesday as she jogged along the Centennial Trail near Spokane Falls Community College.

The 25-year-old victim said she was running near the Holy Names convent when a man ran up to her, placed one hand over her mouth and fondled her with the other.

She told detectives the man let go when she screamed and fought him. He then ran up an embankment toward the convent and disappeared.

The woman said her attacker was white, in his mid- to late-20s, about 6 feet 2 inches tall and 190 pounds. He had short dark hair and was wearing a jogging outfit and sun glasses.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Crime Check at 456-2233.
