Going Once, Twice… Let’S Go To An Auction

If you love bidding for bargains at auctions, this is your week. Several Valley churches are hosting fund-raising auctions for various projects.

Check one out, you’re bound to find some treasures.

The Veradale United Church of Christ, 611 N. Progress Road, will host an auction today at 7 p.m. A luggage set will be raffled off and items up for bid include gift certificates from local merchants, dinners, boat trips on Lake Coeur d’Alene, artwork and baked goods. Refreshments will be served.

Proceeds will benefit various church projects.

Pines Baptist Church, 714 S. Pines Road, starts its silent and live auctions at 6 p.m. today. Available items include Beanie Babies, a weekend trip, an AKC black Lab puppy with kennel, and more.

Desserts will also be available for purchase.

Proceeds will be used to help the church youth on a mission trip to Bremerton.

Berean Bible Church, 10910 E. Boone, is planning its auction for next Saturday. The bidding begins at 5:30 p.m. Items up for bid include artwork, a canoe, boat rides on Lake Coeur d’Alene, a plane ride, dinners and a massage. Complimentary desserts will be provided by Just American Desserts.

Proceeds will be used to send church youth on a mission trip to the Dominican Republic to help rebuild churches destroyed by Hurricane Mitch.

Reservations are required and can be made by calling 922-4383 or 922-2405.

The youth of Pasadena Park Church of the Nazarene, 8822 E. Upriver Drive, will host a dessert auction at 7:15 p.m. Sunday. Proceeds will be used to send the church youth to a church convention this summer. The church will also host the Pfeifers in concert Thursday at 7 p.m. The evening of Southern gospel music is free and all are welcome to attend. A free will offering will be collected. Make reservations for Seder meal

Christ Lutheran Church, 13009 E. Broadway, is now accepting reservations for its Seder meal planned for 6 p.m. Maundy Thursday (April 1). The intergenerational event symbolizes historically significant events in the Israelite experience.

Reservations will be accepted through March 21. The cost is $5 per person or $20 per family. For reservations or information, call the church office at 928-7733.

St. Patrick’s Day dinner planned

The Episcopal Church of the Resurrection will host a St. Patrick’s Day dinner of corned beef and all the trimmings at its Outreach Center. The meal begins at 6 p.m. today at the center, 15319 E. Eighth. Dinner is free, but a free-will offering will be collected.

Handbell choirs at Valley Christian

Valley Christian School, 24th and Bowdish, will be ringing with the sound of handbells during Sunday’s “Ringsperation.” The annual concert will feature handbell choirs from several churches in the area, including Millwood Presbyterian, Opportunity Presbyterian and Spokane Valley United Methodist. The free concert begins at 4 p.m. and all are welcome to attend.
