NEW FACES:

Metropolitan Mortgage and Securities Co. Inc. has hired Lura Sheahan as legislative analyst for state and federal issues in the company’s expanded Government Relations Department. Sheahan, who has more than 20 years of experience in political and business development, has held campaign staff positions for former U.S. Sen. Howard Baker and senate staff positions for U.S. Sen. Slade Gorton. She earned a master’s degree in business administration at Stanford University.

David Olin has joined Coeur d’Alene-based Hanna & Associates Inc. as an art director. Olin previously spent 13 years with the advertising agency WhiteRunkle & Associates in Spokane.

Kim Mitchell has joined Source Financial as a mortgage loan officer. Mitchell, who previously worked for Rosauers Supermarkets Inc., will be originating FHA, VA, conventional, construction and commercial mortgages for both purchase and refinance transactions.

Dr. Robert Hustrulid has opened a private practice at Waterford on South Hill. Hustrulid, whose specialty is internal medicine, is a graduate of the University of Minnesota. He was a partner at Associated Internists in Spokane from 1971 to 1992, then practiced at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Walla Walla for three years. For the past three years, he has been associated with the VA Medical Center in Spokane.

Mary Ann Hieronymus is operating D’ Vine Inspirations, a store and cafe at the Waterford on South Hill. The operation provides homemade foods and convenience store items. Hieronymus previously worked for Niko’s Restaurants, planning wine tasting events and doing specialty dessert baking.

Lewiston-based Regence BlueShield of Idaho has added Mary McFarland, Greg Charlton and Dr. James R. Blackman to its board of directors:

McFarland, who is dean and professor at Gonzaga University’s School of Professional Studies, replaces Wayne Olin, former president and CEO of MSB-BlueShield. McFarland earned a master’s degree in nursing from the University of Portland and a Ph.D. in leadership from Gonzaga. She has served as chair of the nursing division at Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston.

Charlton is president and CEO of Seaport Citizens Bank in Lewiston. He replaces J.R. Simplot Co. President Steve Beebe on the board. Charlton, who received a bachelor’s degree from Boise State College, is a former officer and director of the Idaho Community Banker Association.

Blackman works for the WWAMI (Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Idaho, Montana) Office of Clinical Medical Education as assistant dean for regional affairs and rural health. Blackman, who replaced Coeur d’Alene pediatrician Dr. Terence Neff on the board, coordinates medical education activities between the University of Washington, University of Wyoming and University of Idaho. He has been a family practice physician in Iowa, California and Minnesota.

MOVING UP:

Deneice Little Hastings has been named sales and public relations manager at the Waterford on South Hill. Hastings joined the Waterford two years ago as a resident counselor. Earlier, she was a supervisor for student teaching at Gonzaga University.

Paul Buller, professor of management and business administration at Gonzaga University, has been appointed Gonzaga’s Kinsey M. Robinson Professor of Business Administration. A Gonzaga faculty member since 1989, Buller received his doctorate from the University of Washington. He has been a consultant to various private and public sector organizations, including Hewlett-Packard and Kaiser Aluminum. The Kinsey M. Robinson Professor of Business Administration at GU was established in 1980 by friends and colleagues to honor Robinson, a former leader of Washington Water Power Co.

The Rev. Anthony P. Via, S.J., has been promoted from director to dean of Gonzaga-in-Florence, Italy. Via is responsible for both the entire academic program and student life aspects. He was honored by Gonzaga in 1991 for 25 years of service to the university.

STARTING UP:

Dr. Rohn Falter has opened a family dental practice at 8414 N. Wall. Falter attended Walla Walla College and Pacific Lutheran University and received his professional training at Loma Linda University. He has a special interest in restorative and cosmetic dentistry.

Tonya Carty has established Carty Wellness Consulting to provide on-site health and wellness education services at workplaces. Carty, who has more than 10 years of employee wellness experience, offers a range of classes and services, including weight and stress management, activity and exercise, back health, eating for health and nutrition, heart disease risk management, ergonomic desk assessment and fitness facility development.

Julie Raftis and Madilyn Hutchison have opened Cameo catering and event facility at the former Oddfellows Hall, 1017 W. First. The facility is available for wedding receptions, business gatherings, award banquets, all-day retreats, auctions, fund-raisers and other events. Cameo will cater in-house events or off premises. Raftis has eight years of experience coordinating events for Patsy Clark’s, DoubleTree Hotels and the Bayou Brewing Co.
