Human Body Found Floating In Snake River

A human body was found floating in the Snake River in southeastern Washington on Monday, authorities said.

Boaters discovered the body about 2:45 p.m. a mile or so downstream from Chief Timothy State Park in Asotin County.

Deputies from both Asotin and Whitman counties responded to the scene to investigate.

Whitman County Sheriff Steve Tomson said officials probably would not identify the body until today at the earliest.

Sheriff’s deputies did not say whether the body is that of a man or a woman.

The people who found the body reportedly towed it some distance before making contact with authorities, Tomson said.
