Area Educators Recognized With Pacesetter Awards
The Spokane Teachers Credit Union and Spokane Area Professional-Technical Administrators recently recognized some local North Side educators for excellence in the education field.
They were presented with PaceSetter Awards which are part of Pathways, a community project formed to help students make the adjustment from school to work.
Katherine Hansen of Riverside High School, Dick Maroney at Mead High School and Diane Zakopyko at Shadle Park High School each received $500 grants for equipment and supplies.
PaceSetters also recognized Deb Crapes at Rogers High School and Mike McQuesten at Shadle Park High School.
“Their commitment to the future success of our students is important to our schools, community and businesses,” said Steve Dahlstom, CEO and president of the teachers union.
School board to present final details
The Deer Park School Board was scheduled to finalize details for putting a school bond election before voters in May.
The board met late Wednesday night.
The district’s facilities committee recommended that the board ask voters to fund a new $5.9-million bond to build a new elementary school and an addition to the new high school. State matching funds are estimated to be $4.15 million for the two projects.
Assumption to host auction
Assumption School will hold its 14th annual auction on Saturday, April 17 at 5 p.m. at Gonzaga Prep High School. The auction will feature a Mardi Gras theme with dinner, costumes and festivities.
