The Easter Bunny will be hopping into town Saturday for the annual Ritzville Eagles Aerie egg hunt. The Eagles will be helping out the long-eared one by dyeing eggs at 6 p.m. Thursday. Those wishing to help dye or hide eggs are welcome to join in. Those hoping to snag an egg or two should be at the city park by 9 a.m.

Fancy yourself a strolling minstrel? Here’s your chance to strut your stuff. Musicians are needed to walk the streets of Republic during the “Republic Strings and Wood Music Festival.” All musicians setting out their hats on city sidewalks April 9-11 will be given free admission to the strings and woodwind workshops happening that weekend. Rocky Ford Creek
Several giant steel power poles in the Rocky Ford Creek power project have hairline cracks near their bases. The $30 million project, nearing completion, will be slowed. The horizontal cracks were found in welds joining the 100-plus foot poles to steel base plates. Those plates are connected to giant buried concrete piers. Grant County PUD is looking into solving the problem.

Officer Lyle Hendrickson is officially on the beat in Odessa. Hendrickson joins Police Chief Kelly Watkins and officer Delmar Olsen in this town of nearly 1,000 residents. Hendrickson is a Davenport native and graduate of Christian Heritage School. He majored in law enforcement at Spokane Community College and graduated from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Reserve Academy.

Newport
The business professionals of the 21st century are sharpening their pencils for the State FBLA competition in April. Newport High School students J.J. Jordan, Joel Shaver, Will Manwill, Kevin Yahne and Amber Shaeffer took top honors at the regional tournament, giving them a leg-up on the state meet. Six other NHS students qualified for the tournament as well. Advisers Rob Birdsell and Steve Shumski are proud of their team’s efforts.

Colville
The local library is proud to display the sculpted works of Dr. Jerry McKeller. McKeller, a noted bronze sculptor, has filled the library’s display cases and is gracing many of the walls with his works. The exhibit will run throughout the month of April. The Colville Public Library is located at 195 S. Oak Street.

The Spokane/Coeur d’Alene Chapter Alumni Association of the University of Colorado is inviting prospective students and parents interested in learning more about the university to attend an informal, information meeting on Wednesday. The event will be held at The Spokane Club from 7 to 9 p.m. at 1002 W. Riverside. Ty Gregorak, a graduate of West Valley High School who now plays football at CU will be on hand to answer questions. The city beach will no longer allow golfing, Frisbee golf, unauthorized amplified music or abusive language which disturbs the peace, snowmobiling or horseback riding without a permit. The Sandpoint City Council passed the amendments Wednesday.

The Osburn Public Library will hold a used book sale through Friday. Bags of paperback books are available for $1 and bags of hardbound books are $2. The library is open Tuesday and Thursday 1-8 p.m., Wednesday 12:30-8 p.m. and 12:30-5 p.m. Friday. Both children and adult books will be available at the sale.
