Schroeder Plans Another Council Bid
Robert Schroeder has announced plans to make his fifth run for a seat on the Spokane City Council.
Schroeder, 66, declared his candidacy for the seat held by Roberta Greene.
“I know I can win this time,” he said.
Improving city streets and fixing potholes are among his key issues.
Schroeder works for Laidlaw Transit as a monitor on a special-needs school bus.
Schroeder said he’s angry with Greene and other council members for failing to interview him for an appointed council position that became available when Councilman Chris Anderson moved out of the city more than two years ago.
Schroeder ran unsuccessfully for council seats in 1997, 1995, 1993 and 1991.
The filing period for the November 1999 City Council election is July 26-30. Contests are expected for three council seats. Councilman Orville Barnes has reached the end of his term limit, so his position will be open. Greene and Councilman Jeff Colliton are expected to seek reelection.
