Woman Reports Carjacking Attempt
A Spokane woman told police a man attempted to steal her car when she stopped at a traffic signal in north Spokane over the weekend.
The 30-year-old victim said she had stopped at Ruby Street and Foothills Boulevard about 9:30 p.m. Sunday when a man jerked open her door and demanded that she get out.
The woman told police the man grabbed her clothes and tried to pull her out, but her seat belt kept her in place. When another car approached the intersection, the man ran away, the woman said.
The victim told officers she usually keeps her car doors locked. She said she neglected to relock the driver’s door Sunday after she had loaded some items into the front seat.
The victim, whose infant was in the back seat at the time of the incident, went home and didn’t report the attempted carjacking until Monday, police said.
She described the would-be thief as a black man in his 20s. She said he has short hair that comes to a point in front, acne scars on his face and scarring on his thin arms.
