Clerk Attacked By Four Men

A clerk at a Sullivan Road gas station said he was attacked early Saturday by four men who were trying to steal his wallet.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to the Maid O’ Clover convenience store at 3620 N. Sullivan Road at 12:20 a.m. after customers called in to report the attack.

The clerk told deputies that a man driving a silver Subaru station wagon with three passengers bought $5 worth of gasoline, paid for it and left.

About 30 minutes later, when the clerk took trash out to a Dumpster, he found the same Subaru parked next it. Four men, all dressed in black, surrounded the clerk and demanded money. One tried to grab his wallet from his back pocket. The man who had purchased the gas then tackled him.

The clerk said he ran back into the store and customers called deputies.

The clerk described the driver of the car as a white male with blond hair. The other men were described only as white males.
