Tribe Take Comments On Lake, River Plans

The Coeur d’Alene Tribe will have a final public hearing on Tuesday regarding its Lake Coeur d’Alene/St. Joe River management plans.

The hearing will begin at 7 p.m. in the Lawrence Aripa Room of the tribe’s casino north of Worley.

The tribe will take final comment on permits, leases and fees for docks, marinas, float homes, log storage, boat garages dikes and jetties. Tribal officials will also propose establishing a regional board, including tribal members and others, to address lake issues and stewardship.

After receiving final public comments, the tribal council will establish fees and regulations, said tribal press officer Bob Bostwick.

The tribe’s ownership of the southern third of the lake was confirmed in a 1998 court decision. That ruling is being appealed by the state of Idaho.
