Stretching His Legs
A newborn Bactrian camel calf stands for the first time Thursday by its mother in the Lee Richarson Zoo’s “Wild Asia” exhibit in Garden City, Kan. Bactrian camels, native to Central Asia, have two humps and are shorter, heavier and hairier than Arabian camels. Only 14 Bactrian camels were born in North America last year; this baby was the first two-hump camel born at the Kansas zoo.
