Ford Motor Co. is recalling about 945,000 cars and trucks to replace potentially defective cruise-control cables that could cause the accelerator to stick. The voluntary recall affects some 1998 and 1999 models equipped with optional cruise control. The models are the Ford Explorer and Mercury Mountaineer sport utility vehicles, Ford Ranger pickup, Mustang sport coupe, and 1999 Super Duty F-series pickup and chassis-cab.

Nissan Motor Co., Japan’s second-biggest carmaker, is expected to accept Renault SA’s $5.3 billion bid for a 35 percent stake during a meeting today, analysts said.
