Renault, the French automaker that fled the U.S. market a decade ago with a reputation for poor-quality cars, plans to return by selling its cars under the Nissan brand name early in the next decade. Renault bought a 37 percent stake in the Japanese automaker last weekend.

European Union regulators have granted antitrust clearance for the $11 billion alliance between AT&T and British Telecommunications PLC.

Luxury automaker BMW expects to at least match last year’s profit and sales figures this year despite troubles in its Rover unit.

General Motors Corp. is recalling about 1 million pickup trucks and sport utility vehicles to change the wiring that ensures the brake lights flash when motorists stop or slow down, the company said Tuesday. The recall covers all full-size Chevrolet and GMC pickup trucks and full-size sport utility vehicles from the 1994 model year.
