Three Teens Held In Blow Dart Attacks
A Secret Witness tip led to the arrests of three Spokane Valley teens Friday for their suspected participation in a series of blow dart attacks in the Valley.
The unidentified boys are being held at Spokane County Juvenile Detention charged with reckless endangerment. A fourth teen also may face charges, Sheriff’s Department spokesman Dave Reagan said.
The group is believed to have hit at least three people with blow darts shot from moving vehicles on April 7. Deputies think the teens switched vehicles between attacks.
The first incident occurred about 6:30 p.m. that day in the 10300 block of East Valleyway. A 60-year-old man was walking into his home when a convertible drove by and a passenger shot a dart at him. The man was treated at a local hospital after being hit in the arm, deputies said.
An 18-year-old Idaho man was hit in the middle finger of his left hand by a dart shot from a car in the 13400 block of East Sprague about an hour later, deputies said.
About 8 p.m., the pants of a 13-year-old were pierced by a dart shot from a vehicle near the corner of 32nd and Saltese. He was not injured, deputies said.
Secret Witness offered a $200 reward three weeks ago for information leading to the solution of the crime.
The boys are students at Central Valley High School. School district officials said Friday that they weren’t aware of the arrests and had no authority to discipline the students since the shootings happened off school grounds.
