One Dies, Another Hurt In Rollover

A Spokane woman died early Friday when her Toyota pickup ran off U.S. Highway 2 about 30 miles west of Spokane, the Washington State Patrol said.

The truck hit a guard rail and an embankment, then rolled several times, WSP said.

Cathie J. Alley, 43, was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene.

Cindy L. Guerard, 33, remained in the truck. An ambulance took her to Davenport Hospital. She was later flown to Deaconess Medical Center, where she was listed in serious condition.

Troopers weren’t sure who was driving, but the accident was being investigated as a vehicular homicide, WSP Sgt. Lee Boling said.

Drug possession charges also are pending, he said.
