Go To Web For Mom’S Day
The Internet will be humming Sunday with millions of online Mother’s Day greetings.
More moms will be getting virtual cards this year in lieu of phone calls and messages sent via the Postal Service, according to an e-mail survey by Photodex Corp. and Digital Greetings.
One-third of respondents said they plan to send a Mother’s Day greeting online, the companies said. That translates into “millions” more such greetings, they said.
Digital Greetings, found at http://www.digitalgreetings.com, and eGreetings Network, located at http://www.egreetings.com, are among the online greeting card sites that are planning special promotions for Mother’s Day.
Here are some other online options for honoring mom on her day:
Getting connected: iVillage.com is leading a charge to bring moms into the information age by encouraging its members to take their moms online and show them how to use the Internet.
You’ll find step-by-step instructions, advice and support for those who want to get Mom connected at the company’s “Take Your Mom Online” site within its network.
The area will offer a sampling of all the Web has to offer, such as access to health information, recipes, beauty tips, shopping catalogs and gardening and travel information.
iVillage.com says its “Take Your Mom Online” area was designed for “techno-phobe” moms, and also for those who want to easily show Mom the way.

Virtual bazaar: 4MothersDay.com caters to consumers who want to be able to send flowers, candy, gifts and online greeting cards from a single Web site.
Apart from the commercial side, however, the site also features a “What It’s All About” section. Under this category, consumers can visit year-round tribute sites relating to mothers and brush up on Mother’s Day history.
Did you know, for example, that Julia Ward Howe — creator of “The Battle Hymn of the Republic” — was the driving force behind Mother’s Day?
