Police Seek Two Suspects In Mugging Attack
Police are looking for two men accused of attacking a man near Third and Maple early Sunday.
The man told officers he was walking west on Third at about 2:45 a.m. Sunday, carrying groceries home from the store.
He said the pair stopped him under the railroad overpass near Maple. One kicked him, and when he punched the attacker, the second suspect hit him in the head with a hard, unknown object. He said the two tried to take his wallet, but he resisted and they ran.
The victim, in his mid 40s, suffered a minor head injury but didn’t require hospitalization, said police spokesman Dick Cottam.
One suspect is described as white, in his 20s, about 6 feet tall and thin. He was wearing a Chicago Bulls jacket.
The other was described as black, also in his 20s, 6 feet tall and thin, and wearing dark clothing.

A station employee at KKZX radio station, 5106 S. Palouse, told deputies that someone tried to pry open a back door on the south side of the building sometime between midnight and 6 a.m. Sunday.
The general manager said he would do a thorough inventory of the station, although it appeared nothing was missing.
Deputies investigate West Plains break-ins
Deputies investigated a rash of residential burglaries and attempted burglaries in the West Plains over the weekend.
A resident in the 15000 block of South Spotted Road said a window to his apartment had been broken sometime between 4:30 p.m. Friday and 1:30 p.m. Saturday. A $300 Magnavox VCR was missing.
The burglar used a screwdriver to break and unlatch the window, then left the screwdriver behind, said sheriff’s spokesman Dave Reagan.
The tool was taken for fingerprint analysis.
Between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Saturday, someone took an Alpine car stereo and five Hot Wheels toy cars from a mobile home in the 16200 block of South Sherman Road. The resident said the back door had been locked, but there was no sign of forced entry, Reagan said.
Deputies found partial fingerprints. It’s the fourth time in three months the mobile home has been broken into, the owner said.
On Monday morning, a woman at the Sleepy Hollow Motel, 1500 S. Taylor Road, said she found pry marks around her freshly painted apartment door. Deputies said nothing was missing from her home.
