Exploring The Past

Some of the relics from the French explorer La Salle’s wrecked ship, La Belle, are shown after being restored in College Station, Texas. They include brass rings, hawk bells, trade beads, a brass lantern, an ax head and stoneware containers. Legislation proposed by state Rep. Gene Seaman, R-Corpus Christi, would provide $200,000 in seed money over two years to help six counties develop or improve museum space for displaying the artifacts. The cluster of museums would be known as the La Salle Odyssey.
