Sandpoint Turning Back The Clock This Weekend

The glory days of the 1950s will be relived this weekend in Sandpoint during the Lost in the ‘50s car show and party.

The rock ‘n’ roll weekend will get under way with a parade of classic and antique cars at 6 p.m. Friday at Sandpoint High School. The parade will follow Division and Cedar streets to downtown and back again.

Immediately following the car show, a street dance will be held on Main Street between First and Second avenues.

Beginning at 7:30 p.m., a rock ‘n’ roll show will feature Leslie Gore, Bowzer and the Sting Rays, the Memphis All Stars and the Bop-ADips. The show, at the Bonner County Fairgrounds, is restricted to people age 21 and older.

On Saturday, the car show will begin downtown at 9:30 a.m. Awards will be presented at 3:30 p.m. A swap meet is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the fairgrounds, and the rock ‘n’ roll show will be repeated at 7:30 p.m.

The Lost in the ‘50s 10th-annual Aspirin Rally-Run will kick off at 10 a.m. Sunday at Second Avenue Pizza. A 5K run across the Long Bridge will be followed by a car rally at 11 a.m. The swap meet will continue at the fairgrounds from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
