‘Parent Trap’ With A Jail Twist
Identical twin sisters are in trouble after they assumed each other’s identity so one of them could get out of jail early, Spokane County sheriff’s deputies said.
Mardonna O’Flynn, 20, is facing a charge of being an accomplice to first-degree escape for helping her twin sister, Melina, leave the Spokane County Jail on Monday, deputies said.
Melina O’Flynn is wanted on a warrant charging her with first-degree escape.
Deputies said the twins, who have a history of arrests, were booked into the jail a week ago after they were involved in a car chase with police that ended in a crash in north Spokane.
Mardonna was scheduled to be released Monday morning, but she and Melina, who was being housed on the same floor of the jail, switched rooms unbeknownst to corrections officers, said Dave Reagan, sheriff’s spokesman.
Melina then signed out under Mardonna’s name and was gone, deputies said.
Corrections officials discovered the situation Monday morning.
Melina O’Flynn is 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighs 135 pounds. She has red hair and blue eyes.
Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to call Crime Check at 456-2233.
