Two Youths Arrested For Breaking Windows
Two boys were arrested for malicious mischief after security officers at NorthTown said the boys smashed five windows in the mall’s parking garage Saturday.
The boys, 12 and 13, were booked into Juvenile Detention for malicious mischief and second-degree criminal trespass, a felony, said police spokesman Dick Cottam.
Guards said they saw several teens run from the mall parking building about 9:30 p.m. after hearing glass breaking. The boys were chased to a nearby McDonald’s restaurant and detained while police were summoned, he said.
Officers found a slingshot and metal staples in one boy’s pocket. Mall employees told police the window damage amounted to $1,500. They also said about $4,000 in damage had occurred to car tires and windows at the parking building in the past week, Cottam said.
Two other boys, both 14, were interviewed by police. Police determined those two were with the two who were arrested, but they denied any involvement in the damage.
