Garbage Service Comments Sought

From Staff

The Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission wants to hear from the public as it reviews rules for garbage collection companies statewide.

The agency will discuss service quality, safe handling and hauling of medical waste, customer privacy and rates at two workshops in Spokane.

Both workshops will be held at Cheney Cowles Museum, 2316 West First, in Browne’s Addition.

On May 20 from 1-5 p.m., agency staff will take comments on residential garbage collection, curbside recycling and commercial garbage.

On May 21 from 8 a.m. to noon, the session will focus on collection and transportation of biomedical and biohazardous waste.

The public is encouraged to attend the most convenient workshop. Public comments will be taken at each session, said WUTC spokeswoman Marilyn Meehan.
